Students from outside the US face particular challenges when applying to American colleges and universities. Here’s how I can help:
- Providing skilled guidance and expertise in knowing what US admissions officials are looking for in the essay. Rarely do foreign students have access to guidance counselors who are schooled in the requirements of US universities. I am here to guide you on the ins and outs of the common app essay as well as supplemental essays.
- Working with students to pick a topic that works. You need to show your humanity and heart, not just your smarts.
- Writing for an American audience. Even if you speak and study in English, idioms and writing styles vary from country to country. Something that sounds perfectly acceptable in one part of the world, may not translate well to an American reader. If you are writing for an American admissions counselor, it makes sense to use an American writing coach.
- Knowing the differences between universities. Not all American universities and colleges are alike. It’s helpful to work with a coach who understands the various requirements of each school.
- Compassion, empathy and understanding. I understand how confusing and intimidating the admissions process can appear. I will be with you every step of the way. We can communicate through phone, email, Skype, FaceTime, and WhatsApp.
